Specialising in Artisan cakes and desserts, Wedding cakes and occasion cakes (birthday, anniversary, Communion, Confirmation, Christening cakes), David & Nora McCaffrey founded Sallymills five years ago.

Everything is made to order and to your specification without the use of any artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

All of their cakes and desserts are handcrafted from the finest ingredients, including sweet buttercream, Belgian chocolate, pure vanilla extract, fresh bananas and carrots, fresh berries, nuts and lemon zest. Sallymills Artisan Cakes & Desserts are available by advance order for local delivery at no extra cost.

Sallymills cater for private parties (birthday, anniversary, Communion, Confirmation and Christening parties) as well as supplying cakes, desserts, bread and scones to restaurants, cafés and shops.

Awards

For the second year running Sallymills have been awarded a prize at the Blas na hÉireann National Irish Food Awards 2009. Sallymills received the Silver medal in the Cakes category. The winning entry was a carrot loaf cake. 'A delicious carrot cake made with fresh carrot, fresh orange juice, orange & lemon zest, vanilla extract, chopped walnuts & fresh cream cheese icing'.

At the Blas na hEireann National Irish Food Awards 2008, Sallymills received the gold medal in the confectionery category. 'The winning entry was a bakewell tartlet. A shortcrust pastry base filled with strawberry jam and almond frangipane, topped with flaked almond and an apricot glaze'.

The Limerick City Enterprise Board awarded Sallymills the 'Entrepreneur of the year 2008'. This is the top prize of overall best business in Limerick for 2008. Sallymills received 'Best Manufacturing Business 2009'. In 2007 The Limerick City Enterprise Board awarded Sallymills 'Manufacturer of the Year 2007' and 'Best New Business of the Year 2006'.

At the Milk Market

Sallymills are at the Milk Market at their new dedicated shop in the Food Pavilion  at Unit No. 2. They are open Wednesday through to Sunday (and Bank Holiday Mondays) at the Milk Market in Limerick City centre. Their website is www.SallymillsBakery.com
