JOD Foods is a family owned and run cheese manufacturing business located at Newpark, Effin, Kilmallock, Co Limerick. Here, master cheese maker Jim O Doherty and his staff produce a range of delicious natural and processed speciality cheeses under the Old Irish Creamery brand name.

The business is located in the former Co-operative creamery building, deep in the heart of the Golden Vale, Ireland’s premier dairying area. Jim is assisted in the work by his wife Lulu; son James, who looks after marketing the products; and commercial manager Pat Kinnane along with a staff of five factory operatives.

Their award laden Old Irish Creamery cheese range includes Natural Oak Smoked, Garlic & Herbs, Walnut Chilli, Porter, Whiskey, Wine, Chives, Blueberry & Cranberry flavours along with white and coloured mild and vintage cheddars. They also produce smoked butter and a range of processed cheeses blended from their own specific formulations using only the finest ingredients.

Jim’s expertise as a cheese maker par excellence is evident in all the Old Irish Creamery products and his meticulous attention to detail, coupled with the expertise of his experienced staff members, contributes to the huge success the brand enjoys today.

Old Irish Creamery products are now stocked by many Irish wholesalers and in retail outlets throughout the Munster area, and indeed further afield. The Old Irish Creamery stand is a familiar sight at farmer’s markets throughout Cork, Limerick and Kerry and again the cheese and butter products are firm favourites with consumers.

The Old Irish cheese range has won many awards for excellence of quality at World cheese shows and at European, UK and Irish cheese events thus endorsing the top standard of product from the County Limerick manufacturing facility.
